How can I renew my books?
Answer
Physical items checked out from Smyrna Library automatically renew if they are eligible for renewal. You will receive an email notification with your new due dates.
If an item has a hold or the item has reached its maximum renewal limit, it will not renew. The item will not be listed on your email notification if it does not renew. Please return non-renewed items to the library as soon as possible to avoid overdue fines.
If you want to renew your items manually, you have three options:
- Ask a staff member to renew your materials when you are in the library.
- Call the Circulation Desk and ask a staff member to renew your materials: 770-431-2860 x2.
- Log into your patron record and renew by hand. See the instructions below.
Accessing Your Patron Account Online to Renew Loans:

- Click on the "[Your Name]'s Account" tab in the right-hand corner of the screen.
- Click on "View Loans."
- If an item is eligible for renewal, it will have an orange "Renew Loan" button next to it.
By accessing your account online, you can see what you have checked out; when your items are due; if you have overdue fines; and the status of any holds you have placed. You may also place holds and create reading lists.
