What is Overdrive or Libby?
Are Overdrive and Libby the same thing?
Answer
Overdrive is one of two platforms Smyrna Library uses to deliver eBooks and eAudiobooks to its customers. The free “Libby” app by Overdrive lets you browse, check out, and read eBooks and eMagazines and listen to eAudiobooks in a single app.
Smyrna Library's Overdrive collection is a shared collection among all the members of the library consortium called Georgia Download Destination or GADD. Through this consortium, Smyrna Library cardholders gain access to a larger number of digital titles.
Materials check out for two weeks and are renewable if there is not a hold.
Smyrna Library cardholders may check out up to ten (10) items at a time on this platform.
How do I access the Overdrive collection?
- From a deskstop computer, visit https://libbyapp.com/library/gadd.
- Or from a mobile device, down the free Libby app from your App Store.
- Select “Add a Library” and search for Smyrna Public Library. The entry will say Georgia Download Destination above Smyrna Public Library.
- Enter your Smyrna Library card number and PIN.
If you already use Libby with your Cobb County Public Library card, you can skip to the “Add a Library” step.
