How do I use Smyrna Library's Interlibrary Loan Service?
Answer
To use the Interlibrary Loan Service (ILL), you must have a valid Smyrna Library account. ILL is used to obtain a book, article or other material for a customer when the item is not part of Smyrna Library's collection. Smyrna temporarily borrows the materials from another library in Georgia or the United States willing to loan the item.
ILL Procedures
- Use the library’s catalog (https://library.smyrnaga.gov/) to determine that the library does not already own the item.
- Visit the Circulation Desk or Adult Services Desk to fill out an ILL Request form.
- You will be contacted when the requested material is available for pickup.
- Pick up your ILL request at the Circulation Desk on the first floor of the library. A pink slip of paper that lists the due date will be attached to the book. Do not remove the slip. ILL materials are not renewable. If the item remains uncollected after one week, it will be returned to the loaning library.
- Return the item to the Circulation Desk by the due date on the pink slip. Do not use the book drop.
